If you ever tried fresh Cranberries, you would realise how much sugars were actually added into those store-bought Cranberry juices that you have been drinking (and which were also used for your Cosmopolitan cocktails!)…
Cranberries are not as enjoyable as I thought they are… They are tart and slightly bitter… almost tasteless in fact…
I bought a bag from the supermarket and I just can’t stand eating them on its own… So I tried blending them into my Green Smoothies!
Here is what my first trial of Cranberry Green Smoothie consists of :
1 ½ cup x Fresh Cranberries
2 x Red Apples
2 x Lemon Lime (juiced)
3 heads x Lettuce
2 stalks x Celery
½ cup x Water
-serves approx 4 cups-
Cranberry is high in fiber, Vitamin C and is one of the highest sources for Antioxidants!
- helps to lower LDL cholesterol levels
- decreases the production of cavity and plague
- reduces bacteria associated with peptic ulcers
- is known for fighting bacteria that causes UTI (Urinary Tract Infection)
To be honest, I have no idea what to blend Cranberries with… But I know that Apple Cranberry juice seems to be quite common from stores… So, I thought this combination should not go too far wrong…
Sad to say, it turned out a little bland… I probably added way too many Cranberries (obviously I can’t wait to empty the bag 😆 ).
Nah! No way I’m going to toss it! One thing for sure, this drink is high in nutrients and fiber… and it doesn’t taste horrid anyway. It’s a little bland but still very refreshing… If you are trying this… you probably want to sweeten it with 2 Medjool Dates or some honey 🙂
Fresh cranberry juice provides lots of health benefits to the body and I don’t want to miss that. I would still grab a bag the next time I spot them in the supermarket, but I would use sweeter fruits in the blend (like what I did for the next recipe!)…
So, stay tuned!
